Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. Achieves Record March as EV Interest Builds, while Genesis Pushes Toward a Strong Q1
- In March, combined Hyundai and Genesis sales in Canada reached 13,202 units, marking the strongest March performance in company history.
- The TUCSON and GV70 continued to lead their respective brands, posting year‑over‑year gains of 48 per cent and 10 per cent respectively.
- Interest in Hyundai’s EV lineup is gaining momentum amid higher gas prices and the return of the federal EV Affordability Program.
MARKHAM, Ont. (April 3, 2026) – It was a record March for Hyundai Canada, reporting total sales of 12,480 units, while Genesis Canada also posted a strong performance, with 722 units sold, showcasing continued momentum for the luxury brand and delivering its strongest Q1 finish in Canada.
Hyundai’s solid results for this past month were led once again by the TUCSON, which recorded 4,830 units sold in March and marked a new all-time monthly sales record for the model. Close behind was the ELANTRA which sold 1,905 units and the KONA, which sold 1,772 units.
Rising fuel prices and the return of the federal EV Affordability Program are driving increased interest in Hyundai’s diverse lineup of nameplates and powertrain options.
“Momentum is building across Hyundai’s hybrid and electric lineup, with increased interest in EVAP‑eligible models such as the Kona EV and Tucson PHEV,” said Steve Flamand, President and CEO of Hyundai Auto Canada. “While we offer the most award-winning electric vehicle lineups in the country, we want to also continue to provide Canadians with more choice when it comes to vehicles, all while supporting the long-term transition to electrification.”
March capped a strong run for Genesis Canada, with 722 units sold as the luxury brand moves toward its strongest Q1 on record. Demand once again driven by the GV70 and GV80, two of the brand’s top‑performing, flagship SUVs.
“Genesis is carving out its identity in Canada’s luxury market,” said Flamand. “With standout models like the GV70 and GV80, paired with our guest‑first experience, the brand is connecting with customers and redefining what automotive luxury means.”
