MARKHAM, Ont. (May 1, 2026) – Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. capped off a record April, with combined Hyundai and Genesis sales reaching 14,703 units nationwide, as both brands demonstrate strong momentum heading into the summer.
April also marked a historic, all‑time record for Genesis, with 831 units sold, up 12 per cent year-over-year, making April the best month in the brand’s history in Canada as it continues its rise in the luxury segment.
For Hyundai, shifting market dynamics, including rising fuel costs and a surge in interest in electric and hybrid vehicles continue to drive demand across the brand’s diverse lineup which offers Canadians a broad range of powertrain choices.
This past month’s performance was driven by some of Hyundai’s strongest nameplates. The TUCSON delivered strong results with 4,340 units sold, up 37 per cent, and the KONA, particularly the KONA EV, continues to resonate with Canadian consumers with 757 electric units sold, up 105 per cent year-over-year. KONA, across all its powertrains, sold a total of 2,943 units.
“April’s record performance reflects the strength of our product portfolio and the confidence Canadians continue to place in our brands,” said Steve Flamand, President and CEO of Hyundai Auto Canada. “As we head into the summer months, we’re well positioned with a lineup that meets the evolving needs of today’s drivers, whether they’re looking for efficiency, electrification, or performance.”
The historic, best-ever month for Genesis also coincided with the Canadian introduction of the all‑new GV60 Magma, showcased during a national media tour with stops in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver.
Delivering up to 641 horsepower, the GV60 Magma combines striking design and performance‑driven electrification, marking an exciting new chapter that will further strengthen the brand’s position in Canada’s luxury market.
“Genesis continues to push the boundaries of luxury performance,” adds Steve Flamand. “With the GV60 Magma, we’re expanding our lineup to appeal to performance enthusiasts and guests looking toward an electrified future, without having to make any compromises.”
With strong results across key models and momentum for a new product building, Hyundai and Genesis enter the summer months from a position of strength, reinforcing both brands’ relevance and resilience in the current Canadian automotive market.
