MARKHAM, ON. (April 20, 2026) — Hyundai Auto Canada Corp., together with the NHL, the NHL Players Association, the NHL Alumni Association and Hockey Fights Cancer powered by the V Foundation for Cancer Research, has increased its Greatest Save commitment to $1 million, following a surprise announcement made on national television.

Introduced at the start of the 2025–26 NHL season as an extension of Hyundai Hope on Wheels, The Greatest Save linked performance on the ice to meaningful impact off it, with Hyundai pledging $10 for every save made by an NHL goaltender throughout the regular season.

With the playoffs now underway, the 2025-2026 NHL season saw a total of 64,976 saves, which translates to $649,760 contributed via Hyundai Hope on Wheels to Hockey Fights Cancer.

The round-up to $1 million was revealed on a special segment on Hockey Night in Canada, that aired during the opening game of the Montreal Canadiens’ playoff series. Hosted by David Amber, the broadcast featured an appearance by Steve Flamand, President and CEO of Hyundai Auto Canada Corp., who announced the significant increase of the program’s impact.

“We believe we can do more,” said Flamand. “That’s why, with the help of our partners, we’re proud to round up the total raised through The Greatest Save and commit $1 million toward pediatric cancer research and care in Canada. Every save counts, both on and off the ice.”

Flamand was joined by hockey legend and the Executive Director of the NHL Alumni Association, Glenn Healy, who underscored the impact of turning in‑game moments into real-world change.

“Hearing the words ‘you have cancer’ is devastating, and programs like these are essential in offering both help and hope,” said Healy. “Today, those saves are making a real difference for children and families facing the fight of their lives.”

The segment elevated The Greatest Save on a national stage, highlighting hockey’s unique ability to unite fans, players, and partners around a purpose greater than the game itself. Through Hyundai Hope on Wheels, the initiative is helping advance pediatric cancer research, treatment, and care across Canada.
