Brossard, Qc (June 7, 2023) – Hyundai Auto Canada is proud to announce that the IONIQ 5 has been named the best green vehicle eligible for government incentives in 2023 according to Auto123.com. This is a second consecutive win for the IONIQ 5, which also won this title from Auto123.com in 2022.
“The electric vehicle market is changing rapidly, and consumers have a growing number of options to chose from. To receive this award for a second consecutive year is a testament to the high quality of the IONIQ 5, which continues to earn accolades more than two years after its initial unveiling,” says Steve Flamand, executive director of product and corporate strategy, IT and digital at Hyundai Auto Canada. “We are grateful to the team of journalists at Auto123.com for their time to evaluate IONIQ 5 and all other contenders for this awards program.”
The IONIQ 5 has won several prestigious awards since its market launch. In 2022, it swept the titles of World Car of the Year, World Electric Car of the Year and World Design of the Year. In Canada, it was awarded 2023 Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC). In addition to Auto123.com, other renowned Canadian publications such as AutoTrader.ca and Le Guide de l’auto also crowned the IONIQ 5 with awards.
For 2023, Auto123.com has awarded prizes in 22 different categories, with two of them being exclusively for electric vehicles: those eligible for both government incentives (provincial and federal) and those only eligible for one or no incentives at all.
To be eligible for government subsidies, electric vehicles sold in Canada must be offered under a specific price threshold, which may vary depending on the province and the size of the vehicle. The contribution of these incentives allows many Canadians to opt for a greener mode of transportation in a much more affordable way.
