Part of that safety rating comes from the internal structure that Hyundai developed to strengthen the Elantra. The Superstructure™ of the Elantra is a state-of-the-art rigid chassis that offers more than safety; it provides you with precise handling, a comfortable ride and a quiet interior.

This core structure has been built using Advanced High Strength Steel and has been reinforced with structural adhesives in critical areas. The structure deflects energy away from the interior of the vehicle during a crash.

It’s not just the body that’s safe. Hyundai offers a variety of available safety innovations for the Elantra.

Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection (AEB) combines sensors with radar and a forward camera to detect objects or people in the path of the vehicle. If the system determines that a collision is possible, it emits a visual and audible warning to the driver. If you’re slow to react, the system will stop the vehicle for you as long as you are travelling less than 84 kilometres per hour for vehicle detection and less than 64 kilometres per hour for pedestrian detection.

In addition to the AEB, Hyundai offers optional Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Parking Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control. The Elantra is equipped with seven air bags.
