Vehicle Highlight: 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe

myautonews_pic_003323366Constant evolution is the name of the game when you’re building one of the most sought-after crossover models in the industry, and for 2017, evolution has occurred in a powerful way across the popular Hyundai Santa Fe model range.

The award-winning lineup boasts numerous dramatic improvements and enhancements for the 2017 model year, and units are shipping now, showcasing everything from new exterior styling, to new LED lighting signatures, to new infotainment and connected-car technology, to the very latest in convenience and safety technologies.

The changes are so dramatic, Hyundai has even shifted production schedules and locations at its North American manufacturing facilities to ensure they’ll meet the increased demand.

From the outside, it’s all about taking the Santa Fe upscale. A new front fascia gets a redesigned look and is fitted with higher-quality materials for more sophistication. New tail lamps and exhaust outlets round out the updated looks from behind, and a new set of wheels, available in a range of sizes, glue the new looks to the road beneath. Extended silver accenting and LED lighting technology work towards an appearance that’s brighter, more alert and more vivid.

Inside, shoppers can check out a new five-inch colour LCD display audio system, standard on all models. Premium stereo system upgrades have been revised, and now include available QuantumLogic processing and Clari-Fi music restoration technology, which enhances the sound signals that are typically lost when music is stored and copied digitally. The Android Auto Smartphone connectivity system allows select Smartphone models to be upscaled into the central display screen, putting full voice control and familiar interfaces and gestures at the driver’s fingertips. A selection of additional power outlets, storage implements and trim materials round out the cabin.

Standard will be a new Drive Mode Selector, allowing drivers to engage Normal, Sport, or Eco system calibrations to fit their current needs and tastes.

On the safety front, the Santa Fe hits 2017 as a rolling showcase of the market’s latest safety advances. A multi-view camera system makes safe parking a cinch, while Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop/Start functionality, as well as Lane Departure Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection help attentive drivers stay even more alert to their surroundings. Automatic high beams and dynamic bending lights, which can ‘steer’ lighting into corners, are also available.

When it comes to all-around value, selection, and relevant feature content, the 2017 Santa Fe model range is difficult to beat. Available in both Sport and extended-wheelbase XL models, with front- or all-wheel drive (AWD), and in a wide range of trim grades to meet numerous budgets, tastes and lifestyles, there’s a Hyundai Santa Fe that’s perfect for any shopper. Best of all, the Santa Fe packs more standard power, more cargo volume, a lengthier warranty, and even a smaller turning circle than key competitors.
